The Redding Gun and Antique Show

Here we are at the Redding Gun and Antique Show at the Redding Convention Center this past weekend (March 5-6). Thats my little honey behind the desk waiting on a customer. The bottom photos show part of the Gun Dealer Set-up which was down stairs from the Antique Dealers. It rained off and on most of the two days but the crowd was great. Selling Collectibles on eBay

With the kind of weather we've been having lately (cold and wet) there's not much to do except list auctions on eBay. So I've been loading up eBay with old Matchbook Covers from the 1930's-60's. The picture will show an example of some I sold recently. I don't get these prices for most of them and a lot don't even sell but I will keep on listing them as long as my supply lasts. This certainly keeps me busy but I would rather be Gold Prospecting. (Just click on the picture for a larger view).

I had it all planned to do some work at our Antique Business a few days ago but I came down with a high fever and couldn't do any Antique work at all. I did, however, go Gold Prospecting instead and this is what I found. Did I mention that it was GOLD FEVER I had? (Just click on the pictures for a larger view).

Letter To An Elvis Presley Fan

Since retiring from my job at Golden State Overnight I've had more time to go through some collectible items that have been in storage for quite some time. Here is a letter from Vester Prestley, Elvis Presley's Uncle, that I've had for about twelve years. This letter, which I believe was intended to be a prototype, is to an Elvis Presley Fan about Vester's new book entitled "A Presley Speaks". The letter was written on both sides of the page in blue ink and I recently sold it on an eBay auction. Vester Prestley was Elvis' Uncle and also the gatekeeper at Graceland. His book "A Presley Speaks" was published in 1978 shortly after the death of Elvis. (Just click on the pictures for a larger view).

A Report On My Good Friend Dale

When I retired from GSO last September 10 little did I know my Good Friend Dale also decided to retire about a month later. You can see Dale's "retirement" blog at http://stoneroads.blogspot.com/ and his "Road Kill" blog at http://roadkillskill.blogspot.com/ Upon retirement I went back into the antique and collectible business again. The Red Bluff Fairground Show

Last Saturday we did a show at the Red Bluff Fairground. It was a combination of Arts, Crafts, Collectibles, and Antiques. It was a beautiful day but a little windy. There was some attendance but not near the crowd we anticipated. We did OK but it was slow going. Here's my little honey in the booth ready to do business. Selling on eBay

I've been listing a lot of auctions on eBay lately and this is one that I just sold. It is a Certified TRUE COPY of the document from President Abraham Lincoln to the Governor of Nevada proclaiming that the State of Nevada is admitted into the Union on an equal footing with the original states. The original document is dated October 30, 1864 but I don't know the date the TRUE COPY was made. I bought this document along with a lot of old paper about 10 years ago and had in in storage until recently. (Just click on the pictures for a larger view).
